Ms. Amy's VPK Class!

The classroom is set up in clear defined centers in which children can play and explore in a safe environment.  The flow of the room allows for the children to work in centers without the disruption of traffic going in and out of the work spaces.  Our classroom has a sink for handwashing and for cleaning up after art and science activities.  The children are invited to the cozy area and library center for quiet activities.  The dramatic play area and block area are far from those quiet areas so that the children can play and not disrupt the children in the quiet areas.

The classroom and playground is wheelchair accessible.  The doors have flat handles for easy access.  This allows for the children with varying abilities a sense of independence.

The lower shelves are situated in a manner that prevents running in the classroom and allows the teacher visability for supervision.  The higher storage shelves and cubbies are located along the walls, so they do not prevent supervision.

The tables are located close to the manilpulative shelf, so that the children can work on their fine motor skills, and during meal time it allows for family style serving.
